It seems like everyone is asking about how to take shortcuts with ChatGPT, including in the advertising world. We recently came across an article that discusses how one person used ChatGPT to write a Google Ads report. We’re here to remind you that ChatGPT — while new and seems cool — is a tool and should be used as a tool, never as a replacement for a human mind.
If you are super curious about using ChatGPT to help you gain insights into your Google Ads performance, we won’t stop you, but here are a couple things to keep in mind before risking your account’s performance:
- Make sure you fully understand what ChatGPT is and how it works before trying to use it to spit out a report. Like with any tool, if you don’t know how to use it, you likely won’t use it well or correctly. So — do your research before diving in.
- Make sure you ALSO understand the pitfalls of using AI to write reports for you. Again — it’s a tool, not a replacement for the human mind.
On the flip side, here are the reasons why you should never rely on ChatGPT, or other AI tools, to give you the full story of your Google Ads performance:
- Miscalculations are possible (even probable) because it’s a newer technology
- ChatGPT is a tool, not an analytical problem solver like the human brain
- Fact-checking can fall short
That being said, by combining different forms of AI along with human oversight, you can leverage new resources, but you should never solely rely on just one tool. Unlike a human partner, ChatGPT isn’t pulling the levers in management and isn’t aware of your particular business situation.
